Turning off pledges

keep it simple sillypants!

I didn’t realize Substack was doing so much to promote to y’all that you can pledge to do a paid subscription to my newsletter.

But I don’t have plans for a paid subscription. This is a free thing that I plan on keeping a free thing.

So, I turned it off.

You shouldn’t be getting any more substack suggestions to pledge to be a paid subscriber.

For a lot of things Substack is amazing, but it’s not how I’m trying to make a living at this point.

I do have an idea for potentially making my own email newsletter service that has less of these content upsell/commerce type things and would be a lot more “old skool”. If that ever happens I’ll be eating my own dog food and running my newsletter on that.

In the meantime, I’d rather not have Substack asking you for money on my behalf. It’s a nice gesture, but nope.
