I’m not sure if you liked the last song I played. And I’m not sure if you’re going to like the next song I’m about to play.
But I’ve got to tell you that the next song will be different than the last song.
Every song is different. An artist is unlikely to repeat themselves, even if they tend to rhyme.
If I played your favorite song, you would be happy the first time I played it. If I repeated that song, you would still like it, but a little bit less.
Let me repeat the song enough times in a row and it becomes torture.
How can your favorite song become torture? It makes no sense.
That is why the next song will be different. It has to be!
Otherwise at some point you will stop listening and I will stop playing.
And I'm not just talking about music here.
The next email you get from me will be different. It might not even be an email. It could be a video or a song or an app.
I don't know what the next one will be.
And I don't know if you will like it.
But it will be different.
