One of the biggest mistakes you can make is going 100% all out all the time.
That is a recipe for disaster.
Lucky for you, there is no need to do this.
There is a better way.
Treat your life as a series of waves.
Consider the sine wave…
It moves up and down in a smooth curve. It always returns to baseline in a predictable way.
That is a more sustainable approach to life. Push, rest, push, rest.
Up and down. Around and around.
We live in a world where pushing is glamorized and resting is shamed. Such foolishness.
If you only push, eventually you break.
If you only rest, inactivity will kill you.
We need to do both. In a cycle. Like a sine wave.
Now I’m not advocating for a perfect balance. Not a static point or a flat line.
A wave.
And it won’t always be constant. It’s useful to calibrate the pushing and resting based on your current situation.
There are times where you are too inactive and just need to push and move your body to burn off the nervous energy. Other times you are doing too much and need to be still for a while to get back to baseline.
I don’t think we are supposed to stay at any one state for too long. Life is dynamic. It’s a song that requires crescendos and decrescendos.
Better to ride the waves with elegance than to crash into the sea.
That’s all for now. If I keep going I’ll totally butcher the metaphor. 🤣
